It's far from summer here in the capital, so the thought of barbecue might be out of anyone’s mind unless they’re from some warmer climes like Texas, but Q MEX is keeping that Texas barbecue spirit going through winter with a new team-up with Lao Fang's BBQ.
For those not in the know, Lao Fang BBQ is a legendary Texas-style barbecue joint situated way up in the suburbs of Changping. Only open on weekends, the restaurant is packed every Saturday and Sunday, and many expats hail it as one of the closest places to authentic Texas barbecue in Beijing.
Now, Q MEX is bringing the best of Lao Fang closer to the city center with a new collaboration starting from Dec 28. Each weekend, guests will get to try Lao Fang’s paired with Q MEX’s Mexican fare at their Sanlitun location.
“Both Q MEX and Lao Fang’s share a deep appreciation for bold flavors, authentic cooking, and creating memorable dining experiences,” says Q MEX of the collab. “This collaboration was born out of a shared belief that food brings people together, and great food makes the experience unforgettable.”
From Dec 28 until Feb 2, guests at Q MEX’s Sanlitun branch can go every weekend to enjoy three Mexican classics paired with Lao Fang’s beef brisket smoked over jujube wood for 12 hours: Beef Brisket Tacos (RMB 48), in which the brisket gets comfy with pickled jalapeños, fresh cilantro, and sweet red onions; a Beef Brisket Burrito (RMB 88), which sees brisket combined with Mexican jewel rice, black beans, pico de gallo and tomatillo salsa; and a Special Combo Platter (RMB 128), with 150g of brisket paired with elote corn, mashed sweet potato, and chipotle BBQ sauce.
Also available in limited quantities is a Combo Set for Two (RMB 198), joining the brisket platter with Q MEX’s Shrimp Tacos, and Avocado Chicken Salad.
Don’t miss this collaboration while it’s still happening, as it’ll go by fast! Bookings can be made by calling the number in the address below.
